How Long Does It Take To Get Pregnant?

So your toddler is becoming more and more independent by the day and you’ve started looking longingly at newborn baby clothes again. Yup, you want another baby and are wondering how long it will take before you get pregnant.

The time it takes to get pregnant is different for each couple so how long does it take to get pregnant is a difficult question to answer.

Your health, lifestyle and age are all important when you start trying for a baby as you know. Eating organic and being as healthy as you can will help hugely.
baby winter pyjamas
Just because you got pregnant first time really quickly, it doesn’t mean to say it’ll be so quick this time however.

It’s worth remembering that if you have regular sex without protection:

25% will conceive in the first month

  • 60% within six months
  • 75% within nine months
  • 80% within a year
  • 90% within 18 months

So if you are under 35 and have had sex every few days without protection for a year and still aren’t pregnant, it’s probably time to seek medical help. If you are over 35, you should ideally seek medical advice after six months of trying.

However, timing sex around ovulation will improve your chances of getting pregnant.

When Do I Ovulate?

If you know exactly when you ovulate there’s more chance of conceiving because your fertile window is made up of only a few days each month when pregnancy is possible. Sperm can survive for a maximum of five days inside a woman and your egg survives for one day. This means that your fertile period is around six days long – from five days before you ovulate and one day after. Pregnancy is possible on any one of these six days but your chances will increase if you ‘do the deed’ on the three days immediately leading up to and including your ovulation day. So this means you have a practical fertile window of just three days. Not long really, is it?!

Ovulation usually happens 10 to 16 days before the start of your next period, so it is easier to work out when you are most fertile if you keep a track of your cycle for a few months. There are loads of great ovulation tracker apps out there to download. If you have a regular cycle that averages 28 days you can count back from the end of each cycle and predict ovulation at somewhere between 12-14 days.

Other common fertility problems which can affect how long it will take to get pregnant are: Ovulation problems, Endometriosis, Uterine Fibroids or Polyps. Surprisingly perhaps, the environment can also have an impact. Leading a sustainable lifestyle can only help.

It is perfectly normal for couples to take up to a year to conceive so don’t worry too much if you are a few months in and nothing seems to be happening. It goes without saying though that the healthier you are, the more likely you are to conceive. One of the common reasons for infertility in the UK is your weight so try to keep within a healthy weight range.

Enjoy the trying and don’t make an issue of the whole ‘ getting pregnant” thing. Before you know it, you’ll be ordering those tiny organic baby grows and wrapping your newborn in his or her bamboo swaddling baby blanket! Good luck!

Your Testimonies And Your Walk of Faith

For we walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7)

The walk of faith is the lifestyle of every Christian. The earlier you realize this, the better for you. The reason is that you’ll be confronted with several challenges along your path. Amidst these, your testimony must remain consistent with what God has said. The Bible says, And being not weak in faith, he (Abraham) considered not his own body now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God (Romans 4:19-20).

People laughed at and made a mockery of Abraham, yet, he kept testifying that God has made him the father of many nations and his wife, Sarah, mother of princes. In the end, his tongue-work produced for him a son just as the Lord had said. Moreover, the Bible says, And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony, and they loved not their lives unto the death. (Revelations 12:11 KJV).

Though the devil accused them day and night, they overcame him by their testimonies. Your testimony is your victory! You can’t afford to be swayed by what you see, feel or hear; otherwise, you’ll begin to talk like ordinary men.

2 Corinthians 4:18 says, While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

When you walk by faith, your words may sound foolish to the spiritually undiscerning but you’re speaking the wisdom of God. The Bible says, But the natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned (1Corinthians 2:14).

So put your tongue to work and build your life strong as you testify of the Lord’s goodness every day.

Discipline Your Mind For Success

Train me, God, to walk straight; then I’ll follow your true path. Put me together, one heart and mind; then, undivided, I’ll worship in joyful fear (Psalms 86:11 MSG).

When you want to chart a new course, create new vistas, attain a new level of prosperity, or set new goals for growth, you have to learn to use your mind. Your mind is a tool that can be disciplined. You can teach it to focus in one direction, instead of vacillating in thoughts. This way, you’ll be able to use your mind to prepare your heart to accomplish greater things.

Isaiah 26:3 says, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because of he trusteth in thee.” By staying your mind on the Lord, you’re disciplining your mind to focus on the Word of God concerning you and what you’re doing. The result is that you’ll experience the extraordinary peace of God that gives rest and prosperity.

;

Take your mind away from anything and everything that distracts, and focus your attention on God. Choose to only be around those who love the Lord, and discuss only with those who’ll inspire you. Keep away from people who’ll deflate your faith, and try to talk you out of what you want to achieve. Set time aside for study and meditation on the Word. To stay your mind on God, you have to stay your mind on His Word. Joshua 1:8 says, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

In addition, speak in other tongues at every opportunity you have to be alone because you’re about something; you want to birth new visions and ideas. Keep at it, and soon enough, you’d receive the note of victory in your spirit and know that everything is settled, “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Pastor Chris Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).

Workplace Violence Prevention & Response Program

Work Place Violence Prevention Program

“If I ever got the chance I’d kill my boss before he knew what hit him.” Do you have a plan and policy that allows you to address this statement from an employee who receives a poor performance appraisal? The recent active attacker tragedies at Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, the Baptist church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, the Mandalay Bay outdoor concert venue in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, FL, all had at least one commonality: Each of those sites was somebody’s workplace. Does your bank have a program to recognize, report, and respond to the risk of workplace violence (WPV), and a strategy that views every employee as a part of the solution to this increased risk? The safety of your employees should be your highest priority. The startling statistics of WPV serve as a catalyst for business leaders to commit to building a program before their risk becomes a reality.

The Data Behind the Risk:

  • Nearly 2 million US workers are victims of workplace violence (WPV) each year
  • Murder is the #2 cause of workplace death for women
  • Domestic disputes that spill into the workplace are the major root cause of WPV
  • 30,000 sexual assaults per year happen at work
  • WPV lawsuits cost companies an average of $500,000 per out-of-court settlement
  • Workplace assaults cause over $120 billion in annual losses

Workplace

Experts Recognize Four Types of  Violence at Work:

Type 1: Criminal with no connection to the business enters to commit robbery or other crimes (banks were robbed over 4,000 times in 2016)

Type 2: Violence directed at employees by customer or others to whom the business provides service

Type 3: Violence against a co-worker by a present or former employee

Type 4: Violence by someone who doesn’t work there but has a personal relationship with an employee

The most common category of WPV is Type 4. While banks are anomalies because they are targeted for robbery (Type 1), bank leaders who ignore the reality of the other three types do so at their own peril.

Defining Workplace Violence

A commitment to reduce the risk to your bank, its employees and its reputation, begins with defining WPV for your business. Experience and legal precedent favor a broad definition that includes any conduct on company premises or while conducting business anywhere when such conduct is intended to cause physical harm to a person, or property. Conduct, both physical and verbal, intended to negatively impact the safety or security of your bank should be included. A broad definition allows your Legal and Human Resource units to address problem behavior early and swiftly supported by written policy. Further, an inclusive policy sends a strong message to all that the bank will not tolerate fear in the workplace.

Your bank’s WPV policy should include threatening behavior. Again, this facilitates the quick administrative resolution of unacceptable conduct with the potential of rapid escalation to violence. Communications or actions intended to arouse fear, hostility or intimidation, or the apprehension of harm in your employee or any bank “protected person”, their family, friends or co-workers, clients, or property need to be within the scope of WPV at your bank. This covers conduct such as an employee “keying” the car of a co-worker in a parking lot, a disgruntled teller stating that she knows where her manager lives and “might have to pay him a visit”, or a loan officer suggesting to an angry customer that they settle their dispute “outside, one on one.”

A WPV policy that includes threats, by definition, includes the upward trend in stalking, both the physical and the cyber varieties. Recent data shows that as many as three out of five new relationships begin online, so it stands to reason that those who meet online may also break up, fight, and threaten each other online. Since we know that domestic disputes are a major root cause of WPV, develop a strategy that encourages employees to share restraining or protective orders with HR, management or security. Too often, corporate culture views such matters as entirely personal, but when potential violence is concerned, you may be held liable for failing to secure your workplace.

Workplace Violence Training

Now that you’ve defined WPV and threats it’s important to articulate who is a “protected person” under your policy. Again, broad inclusive language lets it be known that you have zero tolerance for anyone to feel threatened while under your care, and, it facilitates rapid handling of a potentially violent scenario. Employees, visitors, customers, vendors, and contractors should all feel safe while interacting with your bank whether they are working or dealing with you on or off-site. For example, a client who calls in for customer service and is threatened by one of your employees while on the call should be treated as a protected person.

To engage all employees as stewards of your business who are equally responsible for safety and security, teach them the “Three R’s” of WPV: Recognize, Report, and React. Everyone should learn to recognize the early warning signs of violence. Reporting concerns should be easy, even anonymous, and facilitated through multiple reporting options. The ball is in your court once you receive the report and you must have a process to act credibly, professionally, and swiftly. Reacting to an actual violent incident should be trained through informal sessions where short videos such as the Department of Homeland Security “Run, Hide, Fight” concept is portrayed. In the next installment of this article, we’ll further explore the “The Three R’s” in depth. Remember, after every incident, a co-worker or manager says they knew something was wrong and they wish they had acted; Don’t you be that person.

Wallpaper: How To Choose The Right One

The living room is one of the most commonly used areas in any households. Varied activities are going on in this particular area where it involves water, humidity and other strong chemicals. Due to regular exposure to such elements, it expedites the deterioration of its walls’ interiors. This is the reason that you should be careful in choosing the right floral wall art for your living room.

One of the basic criteria to consider when deciding for hanging new floral wallpaper in your living room is its quality. It should be durable considering that it is regularly exposed to moisture and humidity. The material to be used must withstand such intense condition.

If you opt for regular Wall Paper Melbourne, it may not last long. In just a short period, it will start to peel off. As a result, it will create an unpleasant view and can sometimes lead to developing a mold condition in areas with peeling wallpaper. On worst cases, these mild conditions can be hazardous to the health.

Bearing all these factors in mind, the highly recommended material is a vinyl coated because it is moisture resistant and easy to clean. Hence, it can withstand the intense humidity condition in the living room due to the regular use of hot and cold water.

Art Prints

It is important too that the vinyl is not only moisture resistant on the surface but also at the back. Using this kind of paper will eliminate the possibility of the walls to absorb the moisture and humidity which can be detrimental to your partitions.

Another factor to consider is choosing a “scrubbable” paper quality. Remember that your living room is not only exposed to strong chemical elements, humidity, and moisture. It is also prone to regular cleaning that needs heavy scrubbing. Less durable paper quality cannot stand this recurring cleaning activity. Thus, a “scrubbable” paper for your bathroom walls is highly advisable because it will hold up the scrubbings and cleanings.

The good thing about using paper materials for your living room interior is its varied designs and color. If you are planning to revamp your kids’ bathroom, then you can play around with children based on themes like illustrations of animals and fairies. While for adults, you can opt for light colors accentuated with specific dark borders to give some highlights on the floral wall art

Lastly, you must avoid using paper wall materials on a temporary basis. The reason behind this is it takes a lot of effort to remove any wallpapers. So, once you decide to revamp your floral walls with this kind of material, do it for long-term or for an extended period of time. Remember that the usual lifespan of such paper materials is 10 years.

Generally, almost everyone wants to have a clean and tidy living room. If your existing bathroom is dull and desperately needs a makeover, then do not hesitate to choose living room wallpaper. It has a wide range of designs and colors that will suit one’s desire. Aside from that, it is also more affordable and offers the possibility to customize the rooms according to your likings.

Bluegrass Mandolin – A Style and F Style

bluegrass mandolin

Hello guys, how are you? I hope that all of you are ready to learn something new about music instruments. Well, today I am going to discuss some interesting styles of bluegrass mandolin. If anyone here is new in music and doesn’t have any knowledge about these popular types of mandolins then; don’t worry. Get ready to learn!

Mandolin – An Introduction

The mandolin is a string melodic instrument in the lute family. It is generally played with a pick or plectrum. Usually, it has four pairs of doubled metal strings tuned as one. The paired strings are ordinarily tuned in a progression of perfect fifths. It is the soprano individual from a family of mandolins. The mandolin is analogous to the violin where the mandolin is analogous to the viola.

Bluegrass Mandolin

It is a type of mandolin playing most commonly heard in bluegrass bands. You can see mandolins in numerous shapes and sizes but all are not suitable for bluegrass playing. Usually, there are one or two styles that bluegrass mandolin players can choose. Both have flat or nearly flat backs and arched tops. There are generally a-style and f-style mandolins.

bluegrass mandolin

A – Style Mandolin

This A-style mandolin has a teardrop-shaped body generally having a round hole. This type of mandolins generally has a fuller, sweeter tone. Sometimes the tone can be described as woody, depending on the type of wood used to make the instrument.

F – Style Mandolin

It is a more stylish mandolin with a spiraled wooden curl on the upper side and a couple of points on the lower side. The f-style mandolins have the brightest, most penetrating sound. The f-style mandolin is used to have a clear sound and has enough power to play in jam sessions around campfires.

The Bluegrass Mandolin-Style

From the beginning, the mandolin has been a core instrument in Bluegrass Mandolin. It can be used with guitar, fiddle, banjo, upright bass, and sometimes dobro. Each of these instrument has a specific part to play in the performance of bluegrass music. There are three styles which commonly used :

  • Rhythm

This type of music is poly-rhythmic in which each instrument in the band adds to the musicality of the tune in its own particular manner. This mandolin has a high toned string which makes its contribution with a technique called a “chop,” also known as chunking. Snare drum like chords is played on the second and fourth beats of each bar (or the second and third in the case of 3/4 time). By releasing the pressure of the fingers shortly after striking each chord, the chops create a driving, percussive effect.

  • Fill and Backup

Bluegrass singing normally consolidates long-held notes and sometimes pauses for extra “turnaround” notes at the end of lyrical lines. Mandolinists, play straightforward harmonies, countermelodies or delicate cleaving in behind the singing, and alternate contributing striking spontaneous creations and “licks” amid the pauses and turnarounds.

  • Breaks, kickoffs, and endings

This American style music is determined by songs with simple, clear or straightforward verses and choruses, scattered with instrumental impromptu creations called “breaks” provided by melodic instruments, including the mandolin. Breaks are synonymous with playing a solo.  A decent mandolin break may stick reasonably to the song of the tune, or it might be all impromptu creation around the chord progression. In most of the cases, the mandolin player will include components of the song, supplemented by the act of spontaneity and chording. Kickoffs (which lead the band to a tune) and endings are like breaks, however, are typically shorter.

Baby-Led Weaning

If your baby is coming up to the 6 month mark, you will probably be thinking about starting weaning some time soon. If so, I suggest you put your best organic baby clothes away at mealtimes as things are going to get a bit messy for you and your little one.

organic baby clothes
organic baby clothes

Baby-led weaning is very much ‘en vogue’ at the moment and it’s easy to see why. Instead of you deciding when baby should start eating solid foods, he or she decides. Breastmilk or formula will carry on being baby’s main source of nutrition until he or she is around 12 months old. But from 6 months they can start trying other foods.

In the Summer months, I used to strip my daughters down to just a nappy and sit them in a  highchair. Otherwise I’d just put on one of their baby vests and/or an organic cotton bib. I’d pop a bit of cooked pasta,  fruit or veg on the tray and let them get on with it. I recommend always having a damp flannel or some organic muslin squares to hand as Boy can babies make a mess!

The one thing with baby-led weaning is that Mum or Dad don’t ‘force’ baby to eat when he or she doesn’t want to. Babies who are feeding themselves do not overeat as there’s no-one playing aeroplanes with the spoon, forcing the last bits of food down their mouths. We’ve all seen and probably done that, haven’t we? Pretending the spoon is a plane or train and making the silly sound effects whilst encouraging baby to open their mouth and eat?  Sounds familiar?

The benefits of baby-led weaning are huge.  Not only does it help with hand-eye coordination and healthy eating habits but it also gives baby the chance to explore different tastes and textures at his own pace. Your baby must be able to sit upright before you start.  Baby should also be able to chew and ideally be showing an interest in family mealtimes.

Some parents do a mixture of spoon feeding along with the baby-led weaning and that’s fine.

As with most things, this is your baby and you do whatever works for you.  Baby-led weaning is slightly less demanding though and if you’re relaxed about the mess and understand that your baby won’t starve doing his own thing, then go for it!

There’s no right or wrong when it comes to weaning.  Some babies can cope with lumpy food earlier than others.  Be flexible though and don’t make baby do anything he or she isn’t ready for.

Start with things like batons of banana or other fruits. Organic fruit and veg is perfect but it doesn’t matter if you’re out of Fairtrade bananas!  These bamboo bowls are great but it’s fine to just lay some nibbles on the highchair tray too.

However you go about it, good luck and remember that Weetabix when it dries outperforms Superglue any day!!

How To Choose the Right Medicare Advantage Plan, Find Affordable Medicare Solutions

Medicare can be confusing for those about to turn 65. Questions that seniors struggle with: Will my Medicare Plans A and B provide enough coverage? Can I afford to supplement them, to protect myself against additional medical and prescription costs? Which should I choose – Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement? How do I find affordable medicare solutions and Medicare insurance brokers near me?

Before a senior starts to compare Medicare advantage plans 2017 coverage and premiums, he or she should understand the basics of Medicare, and its parts. Medicare Part A – free to most U.S. residents age 65 or older – provides hospitalization coverage. The entire cost of each hospital stay of 60 days or less is paid through Part A. Once the stay exceeds 60 days there is a fee in 2017 of at least $329 a day. Part A also covers skilled nursing care, with no charge to the patient for the first 20 days of the stay.

Part B, for which most seniors pay a monthly $134 premium, covers approximately 80 percent of fees for doctor visits, lab work, X-rays and several other medical services and durable equipment. There is an annual $183 deductible for Part B. For seniors who are drawing a monthly social security payment, their Plan B premium is automatically deducted each month from their social security check or bank deposit.

Medicare Parts C and D are optional, and designed to offer seniors additional coverage and/or a reduction in the cost of their deductibles, co-pays and other out-of-pocket expenses for medical, dental and pharmacy costs. Medicare Advantage Plans and Medicare Supplements are the two Part C options. Medicare Part D provides additional prescription coverage.

The most important, and perhaps most difficult choice for seniors is whether to sign up for a Medicare Advantage plan or to choose a Medicare Supplement plan instead. Both have their own advantages. While a Medicare Supplement plan often provides benefits not offered by Medicare Advantage Plans (often referred to as MAs), it is generally more costly. For a senior that travels extensively, however, a Supplement may be the best option, as Medicare Advantage Plans are specific to the state, and provide no coverage beyond state borders. Some Supplement plans even provide emergency coverage when traveling overseas. A snowbird who lives in Minnesota eight months of the year but spends the winter in Arizona would need to choose a Medicare Supplement for any winter coverage beyond Medicare Parts and B, for example. The exception is emergency care.

While many Part C plans offer pharmacy coverage, some don’t. Were a senior to choose a Medicare Advantage Plan or Supplement that provides no prescription coverage, she could then choose a Part D plan as well, with its own premium and deductible.

In general, for budget-conscious seniors who reside full time in one state, Medicare Advantage Plans are the most advantageous. Let’s take a look at a few.

Medicare

A senior who lives in Portland, Oregon has several carrier choices for his Medicare Advantage Plans, each of which offer more than one plan. One carrier, for example, offers five different MA plans, with a wide variety of 2017 monthly premiums. For those who need to keep their premiums low, and don’t mind the restriction of seeking care from only those in the designated network, this carrier offers three choices, two of which have zero premiums. Its two PPO plans, which allow seniors to use out-of-network providers for an additional fee, the premiums each month are $16 to $116. In the same area, another carrier has one zero-premium HMO plan, and one PPO. For the latter, the monthly premium is $32.

A smart comparison of plans should include a thorough knowledge of the medical needs of the senior or seniors looking for coverage, as well as their budget. As an example, a senior who regularly takes several costly prescription medicines would do well to find a Medicare Advantage plan that includes prescription coverage, rather than choosing a zero-premium plan with no pharmacy coverage simply to avoid a monthly premium. The other option, of course, would be a combination of MA with no pharmacy coverage and a Part D plan, whose combined premiums are competitive.

As a comparison, let’s look at what’s available in Maricopa County, Arizona. Here a national carrier, for example, has PPO Medicare Advantage plan with a zero premium, but no pharmacy coverage. Its in-network co-pay for primary care physician is $15, for specialists $40. Out of network, these costs are covered at 50 percent. Its in-network annual deductible is $599, and its annual out-of-pocket expense (the maximum a senior would pay for the year) is a hefty $6,700. For someone with few or no medical problems and little need for prescription medications, this plan might well be an affordable option.

Another choice might be a national carrier’s medicare advantage plan at $32 a month. This plan, an HMO, charges no co-pay for a visit to a primary care physician, and $15 for a specialist visit. It includes pharmacy coverage and has no annual deductible. The annual out-of-pocket ceiling is $3,200.

For a comprehensive look at the various Medicare enrollment 2017 plan options and the local insurance brokers that can help finalize the choice and activate the chosen plan, a senior should look to the Medicare Coverage Helpline.
